The older you get...the wiser you get

After having the rain, I mean pool in our bedrooms Friday night we had to wake up bright and early to get the rooms cleaned and dried. Or atleast Lane and I got up bright and early.

I spent pretty much all morning vaccuming Lane's room getting as much water out as I could. And I mean I spent the morning cleaning. Then that afternoon Justin did a little bit in our room and I spent the afternoon getting the house cleaned and food ready because we were having people over that evening for supper.

The one time we have company this had to happen. Atleast the water was downstairs and we were entertaining on the main level.

3 couples and their kids came over for Tacos Saturday evening. A 15 month old girl, 12 month old girl, and a 3 yr old boy and Lane 9 months plus the 6 of them and 2 of us all in our little house. But it worked out very well didn't seem crowded at all and we all had a fun time. Kids were playing, I don't htink the toys have been scattered out that much of played with that much. We are very thankful for wonderful friends who are willing to drive to White, but I guess free supper was their insentive!! But we've been to their house for free supper so we just take turns.

Sunday got up, but not so early. This time Justin pulled the mattress upstairs and we slept on that in the living room while Lane slept in his pack n play in the sparebedroom. Oh yeah a big thing for me is Lane has been sleeping through the night 2 weeks in a row now!!! It makes me so happy(and less tired)! Thanks to Dr. Dobson for getting rid of his ear infections.

Anyway...worked on the basement again and went out to the farm where Lane got to ride the 4wheeler with Grandpa out to their big pond. The second trip he fell asleep leaning over Grandpa V's arm.

After we left it was supper time, and after all the hard work I did this weekend I was not in the mood to make supper. Yes pitty me I worked hard!! :)

So we went to town for supper at Zesto. BBQ Pork Sandwich, Medium Fries, Rootbeer and a small vanilla yogart sundae with oreo on top made the weekend all better. Zesto has the greatest food ever, well their is better but its a good food place in B Town. And now that they are indoors its open year round!! I shared some of my yogart with Lane while he ate his yummy Natures Goodness Baby food. I'm so glad we have a wonderful son to be able to take out into public.

Then we headed back home to finish up some laundry. DId I mention Friday night when the water came in we used all our towels to try and soak up the water so we had twice as much laundry to do. Good thing I have Friday's off!

Monday is here and Justin left for work and I had the day off because I though daycare was closed but I mis read the note and she was closing at 3:00. Oh well it was good that I had Monday off did some laundry and cleaned up a few things around the house. And a good friend and 2 of her boys came to visit. Clay who's 2 and Trace who's a couple months old. Clay & Lane had a blast playing. Clay would rarr like a lion and Lane would do it back. (Lane gets it from his mom and dad) They were just way to cute to watch. It was nice to see Beth and her boys.

Then came Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday work days.

Tomorrow is Friday and I can't wait!!!! going to attempt to move some of Lane's stuff upstairs and get more laundry caught up before Saturday. Clean Mode Tomorrow.

Saturday we have a wedding of a friend of mine from High School which I've very excited about. And Sunday will be probalby taking the sheetrock down and cleaning up the wet walls since that is the only day Justin will be able to do it.

Hopefully things start looking good on our house.

Hope you enjoyed that crazy mess of a post.

Give & Take

Good news first. I got my second rock chip from the same road probably the same area on the road this morning heading into town. But this time if it were to spread it would hit right in the middle of my windshield blocking my view. So I called my WONDERFUL(exaterating) Insurance company to see if this would be covered and sure enough they cover chips. My car is at the "dr" getting a new face lift. Oh yeah and get this I get a call minutes after I dropped it off saying the guy can't get into the car with the key. HELLO GUY!!!! I guess I woman needs to go there and show him how its done. Now I'm waiting for my boss to come back from lunch to see if he would kindly take me there to unlock my car. I want to try the key infront of the guy just to show him it does work. Or make a fool of myself that it doesn't work, but I'm pretty sure it does.

I've had to pick up my boss from a glass place not to long ago so I think he can do the same for me. And he can get milage from work for that!!

Had to take a break and go get my car unlocked for the GUY. Funny thing I make my nice boss drive me there to unlock my car and we pull up and its not sitting outside. I go in to ask and she said we just got it unlocked like 5 minutes ago but its been so busy here I didn't have time to call you back. Must have been a blonde GUY!!

Bad news: last weekend we had some really heavy rain and it ended up giving Lane a waterfall on his window in his room. Flooded the carpet in our room and his room. Luckily we got the carpet dry and I think are able to save that, but the walls and baseboard are not. We are going to end up having to tear the sheetrock out and clean the walls down, spray it with bleach and let it dry then put new sheetrock back up.
And to all of you who haven't had this happen to you INSURANCE DOESN"T COVER GROUND WATER DAMAGE. Yeah you would think being insurance and it DAMAGED your HOME that it would COVER but NOPE!!
And again luckily my husband was once a carpenter and can probably do all the work. And sheetrock and baseboard are way less expensive than new carpet.
I'm going to move all of Lane's stuff up to our sparebedroom that was just cleaned out not to long ago to make that into a toy room. I guess good thing I cleaned it out anyway.

So we are having to deal with getting the walls cleaned up so mold does spread and make things worse in the rooms. Not fun, but I'm trying to look at it as it could always be worse. Though this past weekend I was not a happy camper nor Monday happy to find some mold on the baseboards. It always manages to happen on a Monday or during the week when Justin is at work.

I think God is testing me and telling me that I can handle anything. Thank You God! Hopefully its making me a stronger person.

I hope no one ever has to go through water damage in their home. All in all, I may not have gotten our house damage paid for but at least the windshield is free so that leaves money in the pocket to fix the house.

Sending out DRY DUST to everyone!!

Giddy Up Horsey

Our trip to Iowa last weekend was a success!!!

The 3 hours wasn't bad at all, we got off to a late start that morning because 1. Lane wanted to get up in the middle of the night so mommy was tired come 5:00. 2. We had to stop at Ihop for breakfast. But we made it there in great time.
Lane attracts so much attention whereever we go with his big smile (flirt face). There was a couple sitting next to us at Ihope who couldn't keep their eyes off of Lane. The man kept making faces at Lane so of course Lane was interested in laughing at him. Very nice couple, from MN.
Oh and Lane had his first taste of Ihope pancakes with butter peacan syrup!!!! Can we say sugar HIGH!

He slept the whole way there. Got to Wagners and he was no were near shy when Erica came to great him, I mean us. He warmed up to her right away and we went inside and he played with Gunnar's John Deere toys. The Wagners and Andresens are John Deere fans. But we still love them!!

We hung out and then played in their pool.
Lane using Gunnar's floatie.
Mom's & Son's

The boys got a little tired after swimming because they didn't take naps that afternoon. That was my first time swimming this year, boy did it feel good. Then we grilled out and had some wonderful food as we sat around the dining room table with great converstation. E & N took us out to show us their acreage they are in the process of buying. Very beautiful and ready for Gunnar to run around and start riding and practicing his roping skills.
Erica and I were thinking of going swimming that night after the boys went to bed but first off Lane wasn't wanting to go to bed and we all were so sleepy that the bed sounded better.

Got up early, Lane is a early riser, not sure where he gets that from though. Had again wonderful food~ Nathan is a good cook. Got ready for the day and the boys actually took naps that morning. Then we headed over to a friend of theirs where they are keeping their horses.
Lane and his 1st Horse Ride

His mommy is pretty proud. He did an awesome job wasn't scared at all and of course all smiles. I think deep down inside he wanted Rex to go faster. :) Thats my boy ride them fast!!

Oh and after 2 years of not riding I FINALLY GOT TO RIDE. I don't think Erica knows how much she made my day, even though coming to visit them made my weekend it felt so great to get back up on a horse. Your whole world just changes when you are sitting on that saddle you feel like you are on top of the world with no cares in the world. I was a little rusty but it all came back to me naturally. Now come Monday my thighs were alittle sore and knee was feeling it but SO WORTH IT. Thank YOU Erica & Nathan!!

It got to that time for Lane's nap so we decided that we should head back so he would sleep the whole way home. And he did. We stopped at Cracker Barrel for supper which was the worst experience I've had. I said I'm never coming back. But that didn't stop the smiles on our face after having a great weekend.

Big Thank you to Jerry & Anne and Nathan & Erica for letting us come and stay with you. And Lane says that he's glad he got to meet his Friend Gunnar. Can't wait to visit again or have them come visit us and Lane and Gunnar grow as friends!

Came Monday & Tuesday after work I helped with VBS at work it was really fun. Something different for the week. Sometimes I need change in my weekly routine and Lane had fun hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa and his side kick Ginger. Ginger is my parents blue heeler who is getting better at hanging out with Lane. I think once Lane starts eating solid foods and dropping pieces on the floor they will be inseparable.

Now its getting ready for another weekend. We are going to have some friends of course all with kids 3, 15 mons 12 mons come up for some Tacos and hang out.

Before I forget Lane turned 9 months old. This Friday we get our 9 month pictures taken, I have some cute ideas for this one. At his Dr appt last week he weight in at 21lbs 6 oz and 28 1/4 in long. He's going to be tall like his dad and uncle jesse.
Being tall you can't bull ride, right?!

Soon to be coming is my 25th birthday. I used to be scared about turing 25 because that meant closer to 30 but I am not afraid of turning 30 anymore. But then ask me that in 4 more years!!

Then summer is almost over :(

Movie-Makers, take notice

Wanted to share this with you. I found this while doing the newsletter for work this morning. It kind of relates to my random thought yesterday.

Movie-makers, take notice

Ted Baehr, a Christian who monitors moral content in media, discovered that films containing a strong moral and ethical worldview make more money than films that don’t. On average films that reflect Christian faith and values averaged $75.6 million, while those with lower standards recouped only $26.9 million.
Considering that 76 percent of Americans identify themselves as Christians, movie-makers would do well to lift up such values as honesty, truthfulness, justice and love of God and neighbor. And we would do well to support these efforts.

Random Thought for the day

This random thought is brought to you by Disney.

This all started with Disney changing their morning shows. We have this set that Handy Manny comes on at 6:00, Mickey at 6:30 and Oso at 7:00. But no they had to change it and put Oso on at 5:30. Do you really want my son to get up early to watch this show??
Alright so I'm just mad for my 9 month old son's sake that they changed his shows. Good cartoons used to be on until 10:00 and now they stop at 8:00 and they put this weird Phineas and Ferb show on, which is not a little kids show. This is where my random thought begins.

I absolutely hate Spongebob Square Pants, I WILL NOT allow my children to watch that show. Its not a good show for any kid. And I want to know why they put Phineas & Ferb on at 8:00 and not the good Disney cartoons like Mickey Mouse and Handy Manny. Lane and I are now watching PBS channel which found out they have some pretty good shows on. Dinosaur Train, very cute. So now PBS has our vote and Disney we watch only until 7:30. Though the tv doesn't have Lane attention for very long. Like Mickey and Oso when the certain songs or words come on he stops everything to watch then back to playing with toys, crawling and standing up against things.
Where am I going with this you may ask? Well...

This is my random thought: We worry that schools are putting God into schools but yet we don't realize what our children are watching on tv. There are some horrible shows out there for young kids and young adults plus older adults as well. Now don't get me wrong I love watching NCIS but those shows like Criminal Minds aren't they showing people how killings are done? Or like this Secret Life of American Teenager, its a cute show(yes I'll admit I watch it) and at first I thought lets tell kids to have sex and a show about sex but now I get what message they are getting to teens, but are they listening? More and more teens are getting pregnant are we setting a good example?
Now were was I going with this?
I just dont' think there are to many good quality shows on tv anymore. And half the time you can't find a good show on tv. Now with a active 9 month old I can say I don't get much time to watch any tv but when I do I want a good show that is worth sitting down and relaxing.
And the news, lets talk about some good stuff not all these killings and stupid stuff that goes on in the world. I bet if the news started talking more about good news and postive things others will start.
Its kind of like people say when you hang around someone that is negative your attitude becomes negative as well.
That is how I feel sometimes and I just get so sick of the negative talk about others and the complaining people do.

Not sure if I got my point across or how random my post is(sorry if its alittle scatter brained) but I want everyone to have a POSTIVE DAY.

Don't say anything negative and just be in a happy mood!!! If you are in a happy mood that will rub off onto someone else.

Have a WONDERFUL DAY!

Tough little boys

Friday, Lane got his first bruise. Do you think that stopped him? NO!

He has figured out that he can crab on to things and pull himself up. Well the cat likes sitting on the dining room table and Lane figures he can climb on the chair. The chair tipped and I wasn't there fast enough and the chair fell on him giving him a bruise above his left eye and a little scrap on the other. Tough Guy! There were real tears this time. But he took a bottle and out he went for nap time.

Busy weekend, actually a busy July we have.
This past week we celebrated out 4 year Anniversary!!! WOW!! And today its our 7 years together date. That is just crazy.

Saturday we went to Mad Mary's for supper just the two of us. It was great we went all out and Justin had prime rib and I had a steak. He had beer and I had a strawberry daquri. I couldn't remember that last time I had hard liqiour. And then I got a Yummy chocolate cheesecake dessert, which I took to go. It was a nice evening to spend with my husband. Wonderful converstation and wonderful time to actually enjoy a meal. Though we love having Lane at the dinner table because he's our entertianment.
What enjoyment kids bring to our life.
Sunday we just cleaned around the house, much needed after being gone the past few weekends. Such a wonderful husband who helped me do alot of the work. Alot accomplished, and now my goal is to keep up on it this week since we are heading to Iowa this weekend.

Monday morning Justin had to get up at 4:20 this morning to be in town at 5:00. Well Lane must have thought he wanted to go to work with daddy this week and was up at 4:30. Wide awake happy little guy. I'm so thankful he's a morning person, unlike his dad. Well Lane played with his toys watched Specail Agent Oso(Since Disney moved it to 5:30) and then 6:15 I went to get dressed and I come back up stairs and Lane was laying on the living room floor like this...

Lane had fallen asleep on the floor. The only places he's fallen asleep are in his crib, someones arms and the car seat. He must have really been tired. It was pretty cute. Then I went to get him dressed for daycare and he had a very nice dirty dieaper that got on his pants. Oviously he didn't care. As long as he has his blankie!!

And this weekend we have found that he's been growing a little that some of his shirts aren't fitting him anymore. Must be working out, getting ready to wrestle 215 like his dad.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

The Start

Here is our newly arranged living room with the new tv stand. What do you think? Of course Lane has to have his stuff around for decoration too.

I love the new set up, I'm so happy we did it. It took alittle work getting the cables and tv moved over to the other side. At first we couldn't get the cable to work and finally Justin realized he didn't have the one cable in right. But I have an AWESOME Husband who took his day off to help his wife with her crazy rearranging idea.

Our big entertainment center used to be sitting where the couch is now and the couch used to be against the wall where the LAUGH sign is. It looks more "homey" now.
Still needs some TLC-finish the look of the cabinet and do alittle rearranging with the decor.
I'll still trying to figure out what I want to put up above the couch. Not sure how I want that arranged. Oh yeah and the window treatments don't look right is because I can't find ones that I want.

Notice Lane is more interested in Mickey Mouse than me and the camera. Found out this morning that Disney channel changed tv show times. Special Agent Oso is now on at 5:30 instead of 7:00. How could they do that to me. HOpefully Lane doesn't figure out that SA Oso is on earlier. They replaced it with Mickey Mouse. Though he loves that show Oso is his favorite. I'm half tempted to write Disney and ask that they put it back.

Any in-put would be greatly appreciated. One great thing about this is where the couch sits you can look out the window and see the street so we can actually see what is going on in White intead of having our backs to the town.

I know for sure there is more room for Lane's toys which now is the priority in our house hold and of course BABY PROOF STUFF!!

We celebrated our 4 year anniversary yesterday!!! Actually we'll celebrate it together on Saturday with a nice dinner by our selves. My wonderful husband bought me a BEAUTIFUL vase of flowers sent to my work. It made my day. He's so thoughtful!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!
